Concept
With this project my intention is to create images which represent the life and vibrancy of a city in its true form by turning my back on the norm of the clinical digitally manipulated architectural images that we so often see.
First I capture hundreds of true optical photographs of a chosen location, and then I print many of the photographs in my darkroom and piece the most relevant parts together into the collage.
This process has been known to take up to a period of two years during all conditions to gain a genuine feel for the scene with a considered decision to include many of the real world aspects such as people, traffic and weather etc that is often missing in conventional digital images.
All photographs are cut and permanently fixed in place by hand creating a rich original collage image with a layered texture more akin to a painting than what would normally be associated with photography.
Original images and quality photographic reproduction prints are both available of my collages.
