Concept

Originally trained as a jewellery designer Michelle’s work has gradually evolved onto a much larger scale with her woven metal and perspex artworks.

Working from her garden studio in Leicestershire, she uses the unusual material of translucent woven metals;stainless steel, copper and brass to create her artworks. Inspired by the theme of journeys - the tracing of a path, reaching for unknown destinations and new beginnings she tries to create in her work a real sense of freedom and movement

She also likes to play with the contrasts between strength and fragility in her choice of subject matter and materials - with hundreds of tiny fragile butterfly wings or falling leaves being created in a material better known for it’s weight and strength - Steel.

Each tiny element of her artworks are hand cut creating a very personal connection between her self as the artist, her work and the viewer. Each element is then put together piece by piece to create a unique, multi layered three dimensional artwork.

She works to commission making every piece to order and is also able to create artworks for specific spaces working alongside architects and interior designers.
